In each of 1992, 1996, and 2012, the investigative reporters Donald Barlett and James Steele have come out with another well-documented book chronicling the offshoring of industry and the continued decline of the American middle class.[i] So we must ask, where will we be in another ten years, if current trends continue? Our research indicates that the future holds more of the same, perhaps worse.
To take a sounding, we must revisit each of the actors and economic conditions we have discussed.
